The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and Warbird 17 members understand that the imagination of a child is boundless. That is why EAA's Young Eagles Program has captured the attention of nearly 500,000 young people and opened their eyes to infinite possibilities through flight. By the year 2003, the centennial of the Wright brothers' first flight and the 50th anniversary of EAA, one million children will receive a motivational airplane flight and experience a "cockpit laboratory" like none they have imagined.
The enthusiasm that comes from flight is shared at no cost with these young people by our dedicated volunteer pilots & ground
support volunteers. Most participants are Squadron members who generously volunteer flight time, skills and knowledge to make each journey an individualized experience. Young Eagles flights have
benefited inner-city youth, physically challenged students, and boys and girls of every race, color and creed.
The EAA’s Vision of Eagles
program marks a new era of EAA outreach and leadership. Designed to educate, motivate and give direction to young people, these activities help them discover the possibilities available, and those within themselves, creating an attitude of achievement in all aspects of their lives. The Vision of Eagles program, administered by the EAA and facilitated by its associated chapters and squadrons like Warbird 17, will provide over 1 million kids with an introduction to General Aviation and their first airplane ride.:
